According to the Detroit Free Press, “Saginaw High wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett will take his second official recruiting visit this weekend.  Arnett will travel to Los Angeles to visit Coach Lane Kiffin and USC as they host #1Oregon on Saturday.”

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review JUCO basketball player Doug Anderson from Flint’s Mott Community College, has given Duquesne University a verbal commitment for the 2011-12 season, The former Kalamazoo Central star states he will not sign his letter of intent until the spring period which begins in April 2011.

Former Arthur Hill guard Jaylen Bland commits to Murray State.  Bland was a member of the Lumberjacks before moving to Californiabefore his junior year.  Bland will be joined by another former Lumberjack on next year's team.   After spending his first 2 years at UMKC, Latreze Mushatt has transferred to Murray State.

Rhode Island Assistant Coach and Saginaw native Preston Murphy received a verbal commitment from Kalamazoo's T.J. Buchanan to play basketball at the University of Rhode Island next year. Buchanan is ranked in the top 10 from the class of 2011 in the state of Michigan…Stay tune for more info.

 Antione Lundy of the University of South Alabama has undergone knee surgery and will be out five to seven months.  The former Arthur Hill forward was a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American and was the 2010 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference East Player of the Year.

The Word on the Street is that Grand Blanc's Justice Hayes will commit to the University of Notre Dame to play football for the Fighting Irish.  "J Hayes" was being recruited by Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa and Northwestern.

The Word on the Street according to the Providence Journal is that former Saginaw High basketball standout Daniel West is close to committing  to the University of Rhode Island.   West spent this past season in Florida at Pensacola Junior College.

The Word on the Street is that the Flint Schools are in discussions to form a new conference that will include Flint Northern and Flint Southwestern from the Saginaw Valley League.  The proposed League would also include the remaining Big-9 schools of Flint Powers, Davison, Flushing and Flint Carman-Ainsworth...stay tune for more details.

The Word on the Street is that Midland Dow’s Becca Mills has given a verbal commitment to play basketball for Michigan State University.  The 6’3 Class of 2011 Center earned Class A All-State honors after averaging 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

The Word on the Street is that former Flint Southwestern Basketball player Anthony Crater is leaving Ohio State after playing in the first 10 games of his freshman season.  Crater is expected to transfer to the University of South Florida.

The Word on the Street is that University of Tennesse coach Bruce Pearl will announce that former Saginaw High point guard Daniel West has been determined academically ineligible to play for Tennessee this season.

The Word on the Street is that Saginaw High's Mike Green is being recruited by several Big10 colleges. What may shock some people is that Michigan State, Michigan and Iowa want Mike Green to be a part of their Football programs. The Word on the Street is that former St John's University and Saginaw High standout Larry Wright will take his game to Oakland University. Wright will have to sit out the 2008-09 season, but he will have two years of eligibility remaining to play for the Grizzlies.

The Word on the Street is that 2 more Saginaw Arthur Hill Lumberjacks have signed National Letter of Intents. Violet Lindsay will continue her playing career with Delta Community College and Tyrie Wooten will take his game to Iowa Western Community College.

The Word on the Street is that Saginaw High will be allowed to continue to play basketball in Class-A for at least the next two years.

The Word on the Street is that the MHSAA has reclassified Saginaw High School from Class-A to Class-B for the 2008-2009 school year.  According to the MHSSA website to be classified in Class-A your school enrollment must be greater

than 1017 students. Saginaw High's enrollment fell to 984.

The Word on the Street is that former Arizona Wildcat Basketball player Lavel Lucas-Perry will announce that he will transfer to the University of Michigan.  He was being recruited by Wake Forest, Northwestern, Penn State, Boston College, Harvard and Wisconsin.
